Despite the varying opinions about THIS song, Daisy, a former member of MOMOLAND, shared her belief that it is the best release in the past 8 years.
On May 14, the third-generation K-pop star posted on her personal X account, expressing her thoughts on aespa’s most recent comeback song.
On the 13th, the quartet released “Supernova,”one of the double title tracks from their highly anticipated first studio album, “Armageddon,”which is scheduled to be released on May 27th.
Despite its release, the opinions of music fans were divided. While some found it to be good, there were also fans who were unimpressed, and even went as far as calling it “bland.”
At that moment, Daisy entered the discussion and stated:
“‘Supernova’ is arguably the best thing that came out of K-pop since the past 8 years.”

This is especially significant for the junior group, as Daisy was previously a member of the highly acclaimed girl group MOMOLAND. In their prime, the group produced numerous chart-topping songs such as “Bboom Bboom”and “BAAM”that gained widespread popularity globally.
Despite the agreement of many K-pop fans with her sentiments, there were others who refuted and opposed her viewpoint.
However, demonstrating her regal nature, Daisy responded:

Despite making her debut as a member of MOMOLAND in 2017, Daisy’s rise to fame came later on. However, her time with the group was cut short in 2020 when she announced she had been let go following a one-year break that began in 2019. The reason for her departure remains unknown, but it coincided with news of her dating life.
Since departing from the group, she has been keeping busy on platforms such as TikTok and X, creating videos that shed light on her personal experiences and the realities of the entertainment industry.
aespa’s ‘Supernova’ has achieved high rankings on both domestic and international music charts.
Despite the ongoing debate surrounding the quality of aespa’s new song, “Supernova”has solidified its impact by dominating numerous charts both domestically and internationally.
After it was released, the song reached high positions on various domestic music charts, such as #1 on Bugs real-time and #10 on Melon Top 100, and also made it into the top 15 on Genie and Flo.
Furthermore, the track achieved the top spot on QQ Music, China’s biggest music platform, in terms of digital album sales, as well as on the overall music video chart, the Korean music video chart, the Tencent Music K-pop chart, and the Kugou Music digital album sales chart.
In addition to its popularity in Korea and China, the track also gained attention in Japan, reaching the top spot on AWA music’s real-time trending chart.
Its “global hit maker”status was further solidified when it reached #1 on iTunes Top Song Chart in several regions, including Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Oman, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia.
Despite aespa’s lack of promotion on various music shows, it is anticipated that their first studio album will garner increased attention upon its official release.
