Exciting New Avatar: The Last Airbender Game Announced for Fans

The highly anticipated AAA game set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently being developed by Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive. However, players will not be stepping into the shoes of the beloved series protagonist, Aang.

Since its initial three-season airing on Nickelodeon, Avatar: The Last Airbender has surged in popularity. Despite inspiring numerous spin-offs, controversial live-action adaptations, and even crossovers with Fortnite, the franchise had yet to receive the full AAA video game experience until now.

This exciting new action RPG is set thousands of years before the events of the original series, allowing players to control an “all-new, never-before-seen Avatar,” a significant shift in storytelling for the franchise.

The upcoming RPG leaves behind the series’ central character.

While this title branches into new territory within the Last Airbender universe, the developers aim to stay true to the essence of what fans cherish. In a recent press release, Saber and Paramount announced that players can expect to “immerse themselves in a vibrant world, master all four elements, engage in dynamic combat with companions, and face the challenges and decisions that come with being the keeper of balance.”

There have been various Avatar games released previously, including a game from 2006 developed by THQ and a tie-in game related to the live-action film in 2010.

Despite the franchise’s continued popularity, this untitled project marks the first AAA game utilizing Avatar‘s intellectual property. Both Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive are co-investing in its development, aspired to be the largest video game in the series’ history.

Currently, there is no official timeline for its release, but indications suggest it may take several years before it becomes available.

Saber Interactive is also known for its work on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, a game praised as one of the top titles of 2024 and highly loyal to its source material. Fans are hopeful for an authentic rendition of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
