A New Era of Snack Flavors: Rewind’s Unique Offering

Introducing a ground-breaking product, the snack company Rewind has unveiled a chip that emulates the intriguing and unconventional taste of a 9-volt battery. This unique flavor aims to evoke nostalgia by tapping into one of the oddest shared experiences from childhood.

Unlocking Nostalgia with a Bold Flavor Experience

Constructed to replicate the metallic zing and stimulating sensation commonly felt when licking a battery, the chip incorporates a blend of ingredients, including citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, and mineral salts. Its formulation is designed to not only engage the taste buds but also ignite curiosity and fond memories.

According to Rewind, this innovative chip is part of a broader mission to resurrect cherished memories through delightfully unexpected snack offerings, with its launch initially targeting the Netherlands.

A Playful Addition to a Diverse Flavor Lineup

The battery-flavored chip is not an isolated creation; it adds to a diverse lineup, which also features Cheese & Onion, Tangy Sriracha, Creamy Paprika, and BBQ & Honey flavors. Rewind distinguishes itself as a nostalgia-driven brand, cleverly blending retro themes with modern culinary twists.

Antti Lauronen, the Head of Creative & Design at Paulig, described the chip launch as a powerful way to connect with consumers, stating, “We aimed to start strong with a delicious tribute to a weird universal memory.”

Rewind emphasizes its core theme of nostalgia, noting, “What better way to launch than with a flavor that captures one of the most nostalgic shared experiences — a tribute to those carefree teenage afternoons.” For those less inclined towards the battery-inspired taste, Rewind offers a variety of classic flavors reimagined with a modern touch.

Flavor expert Mattias Larsson, responsible for the chip’s development, shared his thoughts on the creation, declaring it “surprisingly tasty.” He elaborated, “We employed a mixture of citric acid and sodium bicarbonate to achieve the tongue-tingling sensation, balanced by mineral salts for that distinct metallic flavor. The outcome is undeniably intriguing.”

Despite the playful flavor concept, Rewind strongly advises against licking or ingesting actual batteries, prioritizing the safety of its consumers.

Rewind’s introduction of the 9-volt battery chip is not an isolated incident in the landscape of unconventional snacks. Earlier this year, Pringles collaborated with Miller Lite to launch a limited-edition chip that captures the flavor of ‘Beer Can Chicken’.As the snack industry continues to flourish in creativity, intriguing new offerings like these are captivating adventurous food lovers worldwide.
