The anticipation surrounding the Fantastic Four’s arrival has been building for six years, ever since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which included its vast comic book library. Now, with the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, and Robert Downey Jr.reprising his role as Doctor Doom, fans are finally getting a glimpse of this iconic superhero team.
Following the success of major blockbusters like Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman, the upcoming Fantastic Four film is poised to be a summer hit. So, when can audiences expect to stream it?

Theatrical Release Date: Fans can watch the Fantastic Four exclusively in theaters starting July 25, 2025.
The trend of simultaneous streaming and theatrical releases has faded away, making it essential for fans to buy tickets for the theater experience if they want to see the movie soon after its release. To fully enjoy this film, consider catching it on the biggest screen available—preferably in IMAX—due to stunning visuals designed specifically for that format.
Director Matt Shakman remarks on the film’s IMAX experience, stating, “The world of Fantastic Four is so expansive that it naturally lends itself to IMAX. We crafted the movie entirely with this format in mind. From traversing space to navigating the vertical skyline of Manhattan, we captured the scale effectively.” He continues, “With colossal entities like Galactus taking center stage, this movie honors the IMAX format, and audiences will truly feel that magnitude on a large screen.”
Projected Release on Disney Plus
Looking ahead, Fantastic Four is anticipated to arrive on Disney Plus in November 2025, though it might be available even earlier.
Typically, Marvel films find their way to streaming platforms roughly 90 to 100 days following their theatrical release. For instance, the recent Deadpool & Wolverine film had a wait of 109 days. Currently, Thunderbolts—which debuted in theaters on May 2, 2025—has yet to secure a streaming date, even after 80 days of release, indicating that box office success can influence streaming timelines.
If Fantastic Four exceeds box office expectations, Disney may opt to keep it in theaters longer. Conversely, should it experience lackluster performance (which is not currently predicted), it could appear on streaming sooner than anticipated. Therefore, prepare for a window from late October to November before it hits Disney Plus.
Digital Availability of Fantastic Four
Expect to have the option to buy or rent the Fantastic Four digitally by September 2025.
Fans will not need to wait for its Disney Plus launch to enjoy it at home. Digital rentals or purchases typically occur about 60 to 70 days post-release, which points to a possible September 23, 2025, date for this film, though this timeline remains unconfirmed.
Keep in mind, digital viewing won’t come cheap. For example, when Thunderbolts became available for VOD, it was priced at $24.99 for purchase and $19.99 for rental. Be prepared for a similar pricing structure when Fantastic Four arrives digitally.
