Expert Debunks Food Myths About Cancer, Goes Viral

An oncology dietician gained widespread attention on TikTok when she shared the two foods that should be avoided for individuals worried about their risk of cancer. She also addressed misunderstandings surrounding dairy and diet soda in her video.

As a highly skilled cancer dietician, Nichole Andrews works diligently to combat the spread of misinformation about food consumption.

As a registered dietitian specializing in oncology and having aided thousands of cancer survivors over the past 4 years, she is enthusiastic about offering consumers with straightforward information.

“In the video, which has gained over 2 million views, she explains that there are only two types of food that can increase the risk of cancer. She then takes viewers into a grocery store and helps them identify these foods so they can avoid them.”

As her first destination, she headed to the alcohol aisle and informed viewers that consuming alcohol can lead to a higher chance of developing six types of cancer. These include liver, breast, colon, mouth/throat, and esophageal cancer.

Despite the positive association with good health in moderate amounts, she emphasizes that this also pertains to red wine, declaring: “Consumption of any kind of alcohol, regardless of quantity, can heighten your chances of developing six different types of cancer,”as she examines the bottles on display in the store.

Nichole then proceeded to the meat section of the store and warned, “Processed and deli meat can increase the risk of colorectal cancer.”

In addition to highlighting foods to avoid, she also addressed some widespread misunderstandings. According to her, diet soda, oatmeal, milk, and seed oil do not pose a higher risk of cancer, contrary to popular belief.

According to Cancer Research UK, Nichole is accurate in her assessment that alcohol can raise hormone levels in the body, including estrogen and insulin. These hormones act as chemical messengers and can lead to more frequent cell division.

This raises the risk of cancer developing as a result of alterations in the cells of the mouth and throat.

According to the American Institute of Cancer Research, it is recommended to limit the consumption of processed meats as they are classified as carcinogens and can increase the risk of cancer.

The one thing you should always order at McDonald’s to lose weight was also revealed by a nutritionist who gained viral attention.
