On June 1st, it was reported by NHK that Maya Yano, the lead singer and guitarist of the renowned Japanese band TUYU, had been arrested for attempted murder.
Specifically, Maya Yano was arrested for murdering his girlfriend with a knife while she slept. He called the police and ambulance after stabbing her in the left side of her chest. When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered the weapon Yano used next to the bed. The girlfriend was rushed to the hospital due to severe blood loss and Yano was immediately arrested.
Maya Yano confessed to committing a crime while at the police station. The male singer admitted to his plan of murdering his girlfriend and then taking his own life. He stated, “I attacked her while she was sleeping, and I have no excuses for my actions. My intention was to fatally stab her in the chest and then end my own life.”When questioned about the reason for his actions, Maya Yano claimed it was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
The authorities are awaiting the victim’s recovery from surgery before launching an investigation into the case. Maya Yano’s actions, which were deemed dangerous and cruel, have sparked public outrage and drawn harsh criticism.
Maya Yano, who is currently 30 years old, began his career in music in 2012 as both a singer and an animation music producer. Eventually, he formed the band TUYU and in January 2023, he established his own entertainment agency to oversee both his personal endeavors and promote the band.
