After the premiere of aespa’s “Supernova”music video, fans have expressed dissatisfaction with Winter’s minimal presence on screen.
On May 13, 2024, aespa’s highly-anticipated comeback was finally unveiled with the pre-release track “Supernova”from their upcoming album “Armageddon.”This marked the girl group’s first comeback of the year, causing great excitement among their fans.
Nevertheless, shortly after those reasons were revealed, fans began to take notice of something peculiar: Winter’s minimal presence on screen.
Despite the “Supernova”music video being over three minutes in length, Winter only had a total of 24 seconds of screen time and 27 seconds of lines. This caused confusion among fans, as Winter is recognized as the lead vocalist and visual of the group.

Despite being ill at the time, Winter was flown to Thailand by SM Entertainment to film the music video, leaving many to question why she was given only 24 seconds of screen time.

Furthermore, the majority of her scenes do not highlight the country’s landscape and heavily rely on special effects, suggesting that she could have filmed her role in South Korea. This sparked criticism towards SM Entertainment for potentially jeopardizing Winter’s well-being while also not giving her enough screen time.

Furthermore, it was observed that Winter had the least number of accessories and minimal extra editing in the teasers for “Armageddon.”Despite being featured as the thumbnail for the launch code, she was not chosen as the thumbnail for any official title track, setting her apart from the other aespa members. This, along with her limited lines and screen time, left MYs yearning for more of Winter.
For the teaser photos, Winter had the least amount of accessories and extra editing. People were mad at her for being on the thumbnail for the launch code, when she’s still the only member to not be on the thumbnail for a mv/track video. And now less screen time.

Despite this, there are still MYs who remain optimistic that the release of the full album will feature Winter more prominently in the other songs. Furthermore, the anticipated music video for “Armageddon”is set to debut on May 27, 2024, which has sparked speculation among fans that Winter may finally receive her redemption.
