After the success of Psychonauts 2, Double Fine has delighted fans with their latest release, Keeper. This new atmospheric puzzle game invites players to take control of a lighthouse alongside an adventurous seabird. Its visual appeal, particularly on PC, is impressive, showcasing the studio’s commitment to high-quality graphics and engaging gameplay.
However, players using ultrawide monitors may encounter a significant drawback: the game lacks proper ultrawide support, resulting in black bars flanking the screen. Thankfully, Rose, a member of the widescreen community, has developed a patch that effectively addresses this issue.
Resolving Ultrawide Display Issues in Keeper
Rose’s patch successfully eliminates the black bars from the game interface without compromising the field of view (FOV).Its installation process is straightforward. Follow these simple steps to enhance your gaming experience:
- Ensure Keeper is not running.
- Visit the GitHub page and download the latest version of the patch by selecting Keeper.ultrawide.v1.0.zip from the Assets section.
- Unpack the zip file in the appropriate directory based on your gaming platform:
Steam: Keeper\Binaries\Win64 Microsoft Store: Content\PaganIdol\Binaries\WinGDK
Once the installation is complete, launch Keeper. The game should now run smoothly in ultrawide resolution without any distracting black bars. Below is a screenshot demonstrating the effectiveness of the patch.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Rose for creating and thoroughly testing this patch across various resolutions, including 1920×1200, 2560×1080, and 5120×1440.
This patch is free of known issues and provides a seamless gaming experience without introducing additional features. If you decide to uninstall the mod, simply delete the files associated with it. However, for the best ultrawide experience, keeping the patch is highly recommended.
It is unlikely that the development team will implement native ultrawide support in the near future, as the game was not originally designed for wider screens. The state of ultrawide support is still inconsistent across many contemporary games. While the industry is gradually recognizing the demand for such features, it may take some time before all future titles come equipped with proper native ultrawide support.
