Forgotten MW2 AR is “better than ever” and meta in Warzone again

A previously underestimated assault rifle from Modern Warfare 2 has risen to prominence in Warzone once again, as the previously neglected weapon has received significant buffs in Season 4.

During its introduction in Warzone 2, the Chimera quickly earned the reputation of being a top-tier sniper support weapon. This title remained until the integration of MW3. However, as with many other MW2 weapons, it eventually lost its popularity to competitors such as the WSP-9 and MCW JAK Raven.

Despite Season 4 bringing changes to the Chimera, including increased damage and a higher arm modifier for the MW2 AR, these buffs have actually been beneficial for the weapon. Its time to kill and overall reliability have been improved, resulting in the Chimera reclaiming its place as a top sniper support weapon in the Warzone meta.

After witnessing the significant improvements made to the assault rifle, WhosImmortal, an expert in Warzone, commended it by stating, “The Chimera received a major boost in Season 4, and truth be told, it is currently performing better than ever.”He went on to describe the MW2 AR as having a fantastic feel, solidifying its position in Season 4’s metagame.

The attachments used by WhosImmmortal for the Chimera were recommended in the loadout.

  • Muzzle: Casus Brake L
  • Barrel: 6.5″ EXF Vorpal
  • Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop
  • Ammunition: Blackout High Grain Rounds
  • Magazine: 45 Round Mag

Despite being a weapon featured in Modern Warfare 2, the Chimera has limited attachment options compared to the newer weapons in Warzone. Numerous barrels, stocks, and rear grips greatly decrease ADS Speed and Mobility, making their use questionable.

Despite this, there are still options for tweaking this loadout. For instance, some players may opt to replace the Blackout High Grain Rounds with an optic, while those who prioritize stealth may choose to swap the Casus Brake L muzzle for the Scratch 20-L Suppressor.
