A former developer from the Battlefield 6 team, who played a key role in shaping the game’s campaign, has publicly criticized EA for excluding him and many of his colleagues from the final credits. The development of Battlefield 6’s campaign revealed numerous challenges, leading to a mixed outcome; while it was generally well-received, its length left some players wanting more.
A History of Development Challenges
Upon announcing their future plans for the Battlefield series, EA established Ridgeline Games, with Marcus Lehto—a veteran from Bungie and a key figure behind the Halo franchise—at the helm. However, after Lehto departed from the project in February 2024, EA made the contentious decision to close Ridgeline the following month. This decision was made as part of an effort to streamline resources for the completion of the campaign.
Now that Battlefield 6 is available, the oversight regarding credits has sparked outrage, especially as many team members from Ridgeline remain uncredited for their significant contributions. Among them is Lehto, who has voiced his disappointment publicly.
Credit Controversy: Developers Left Unacknowledged
In a recent LinkedIn post dated October 20, Lehto expressed his discontent regarding the lack of proper recognition for himself and his former teammates. This sentiment was further highlighted by coverage from VGC, which noted that while a few individuals received mention in the “Special Thanks”section, the majority—including Lehto—were omitted entirely.
“These talented developers worked tirelessly for 1 to 2.5 years, building the foundation of the game, ” Lehto remarked, explaining that Ridgeline’s duties encompassed formulating a comprehensive story, defining character arcs, and orchestrating mission sequences.
Notably, Lehto highlighted that he was accountable for developing a “more open sandbox style” of gameplay. A glimpse of this approach was evident in Mission 8 of Battlefield 6’s campaign, which earned praise from critics, including claims that it was the campaign’s standout section. However, it appears that much of the innovative content envisioned by Ridgeline was abandoned after the studio’s closure.

Below is a complete list of Ridgeline Games staff who contributed to Battlefield 6’s development.
Lehto reported that of the 36 employees who contributed, only eight received acknowledgment in the game credits, leaving a substantial number unrecognized. EA has yet to issue an official response to this controversy.
“Game development is a team effort, and every contributor deserves fair acknowledgment, ” Lehto emphasized, underscoring the importance of recognizing all individuals involved in the creation of a game.
