Former Joe Rogan Guest Regains Title as Most Popular Spotify Podcast

Joe Rogan, the host of the highly popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience,”has once again been surpassed in the Spotify podcast charts by a former guest. While Rogan typically dominates the platform, there are instances where other shows manage to rise to the top, displacing him momentarily.

This isn’t the first time Rogan has found himself on the receiving end of a dethroning. Over the years, several of his former guests have leveraged their appearances on his show to achieve significant popularity, allowing them to climb the podcast rankings.

Notably, in July 2024, rogue podcaster and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson achieved this feat, followed by former CIA contractor Shawn Ryan in October. Now, Ryan is making headlines yet again as he competes for the top spot against Rogan.

Shawn Ryan Captures the Top Spot Once More

On January 6, Shawn Ryan launched the 156th episode of his podcast, titled ‘A SEAL Team 6 Sniper’s Worst Nightmare.’ This episode featured Chris Fettes, a fellow former Navy SEAL who served for 13 years in SEAL Team 10.

Fettes, who has a noteworthy combat history in Iraq and Afghanistan, transitioned from military service to entrepreneurship, founding his own ice cream brand, Be Free Ice Cream.

The episode is a substantial 5 hours and 19 minutes long, surpassing even the Extended Edition of any “Lord of the Rings”film, positioning it as an epic listening experience.

Ryan’s latest episode propelled his podcast ahead of Rogan’s in the United States, earning him the top position overall, according to The Podcast Charts.

In response to this shift, Rogan released a new episode featuring comedian Theo Von on January 8. Despite these updates, it’s noteworthy that Rogan’s agreement with Spotify permits him to distribute episodes simultaneously on other platforms, like YouTube and Apple Podcasts. This distribution strategy has given his competitors a greater opportunity to spike past him in the rankings from time to time.
