Former McDonald’s Chef Expresses Concerns Over Price Changes in Combo Meals

A former chef from McDonald’s has expressed concerns regarding recent price changes to combo meals, encouraging patrons to remain vigilant about other popular offerings.

On August 20, McDonald’s announced a new agreement with franchise owners to decrease the prices of eight popular combo meals nationwide. This reduction will approximate 15%, with a budget-friendly $5 breakfast option and an $8 Big Mac or McNuggets combo also introduced. These adjustments are expected to commence in September 2025.

This move has been warmly received by McDonald’s, especially amidst reports that some combo prices have soared to nearly $20 in various states. Yet, former McDonald’s chef Mike Haracz highlights several potential pitfalls related to these changes.

Concerns Over Other Menu Changes

Mike Haracz, who has taken to TikTok to reveal insights and tips about the fast-food giant, warns customers to be alert for possible adjustments to other menu items. He suggests that regular prices and app-exclusive deals may also undergo changes without much notice.

“You’re gonna want to keep track of regular menu prices, the app deals they usually provide, because I assure you those are going to change as well, ” he noted.“They do not talk about that stuff; they’re hoping that you don’t notice, but we’re going to notice.”

Haracz has also highlighted some disparities between McDonald’s offerings and those of competitors, remarking on certain items, like the Daily Double, as being overpriced.

Many customers have reported observing that app-exclusive deals have already become less enticing.“I’ve noticed a couple of months ago that the app-only deals are not as good, ” one user commented. Another user observed, “All the app deals said expired the other day when I looked at the app.”

Despite the price drops, some patrons feel the reductions are insufficient to make a difference.“They’re not even lowering the prices significantly enough for me to care, ” expressed one dissatisfied customer.
