Fortnite Jigsaw Challenge Bug Reveals Unexpected Lore Accuracy

Fortnite Jigsaw Challenge Bug Reveals Unexpected Lore Accuracy

One Fortnite gamer encountered an unexpected Jigsaw Challenge that brought to mind some of the “lore accurate” traps from the Saw franchise.

This year’s Fortnitemares event has been incredibly chaotic, featuring not only new horror-themed skins and quests but also an exciting Jigsaw Challenge inspired by the Saw collaboration. Yes, it’s true!

While it’s not as terrifying as the film series might suggest, the challenge can still pose a considerable threat. For those unfamiliar, players engage with a television, and then they must wait for another player to do the same in order to accept the challenge.

Once accepted, you and your opponent have a set time to defeat each other, with both players having visibility of each other’s locations. If neither player succeeds in eliminating the other, both will meet their end due to the trap. However, a bug has resulted in one player’s experience deviating from this expected outcome.

Instead of being tasked to eliminate another player, this particular user was confronted with their own username and icon displayed in the challenge prompt. “I got a Jigsaw Challenge and it said I had to eliminate myself,” they shared in a Reddit thread alongside a screenshot.

This predicament drew laughter from many players in the comments, with some even acknowledging how this situation is eerily “lore accurate” to the franchise.

“Die or Die. Make your choice,” one commenter humorously remarked.

Another user quipped, “So did you jump off the cliff? And, if so, did it reward you?”

Meanwhile, another player noted, “Wow. Lore accurate Jigsaw right here. You have to pay for the crimes you did.”

Without delving too deeply into spoilers, the traps in the Saw movies are intended to test a person’s will to survive. Typically, there exists a tangible option for escape; however, certain traps are designed to be impossible or unwinnable intentionally. As a result, many players were reminded of these kinds of traps when the Jigsaw Challenge instructed a player to eliminate themselves.
