After nearly five years marked by a protracted legal battle, Fortnite has officially made its much-anticipated comeback on iOS devices in the United States. Since its removal from the Apple App Store in 2020, fans have been eagerly waiting for this moment. Epic Games has announced that the beloved battle royale is now accessible via the Apple App Store, AltStore, and Epic Games Store.

The conflict began when Epic Games integrated a direct payment system within the Fortnite app, bypassing Apple’s payment structure. This move triggered a significant dispute between the two companies. Notably, Fortnite had previously returned to iOS in the EU following a notable court ruling in the Epic Games vs. Apple case, where the court ruled that Apple could not take a cut from transactions made outside its platform.

Epic’s CEO, Tim Sweeney, confirmed that the game was submitted to Apple through the company’s EU developer account on May 9. Although Apple initially hindered the app’s return to prevent complications elsewhere, court pressure facilitated a resolution. Thus, Fortnite is officially back on iOS, much to the delight of its players.

Players interested in diving back into the game can download a launcher from the App Store and then install the full game, which is approximately 13GB. Fortnite is compatible with iPhones that have a minimum of 4GB of RAM and are running iOS 17.6 or later. This means models such as the iPhone 11 and newer can support the game. However, it is important to note that the iPhone SE (2nd generation) is not compatible due to its 3GB RAM limitation.

To celebrate Fortnite’s return, Epic has launched an enticing promotion: players who utilize Epic’s own payment system in Fortnite, Rocket League, or Fall Guys across various platforms—including iOS—will receive a 20% Epic Rewards bonus. These rewards can be redeemed for future purchases, adding to the draw for returning players.

Additionally, the iOS version emphasizes the 20% bonus during V-Bucks purchases. Alongside this relaunch, Epic has introduced a thrilling new Star Wars-themed season as of May 2, providing further incentive for players to jump back into the game.
