On February 14, the much-anticipated return of the Zapotron, famously regarded as Fortnite’s most potent weapon, unfolded within the Fortnite OG realm. Fans eagerly flocked to reclaim this mythical sniper, only to confront a significant drawback: the weapon was non-functional. Players blasting away in efforts to utilize the gun discovered that charging it had no effect whatsoever.

Historically, the Zapotron has had a low profile, with a mere 30-minute appearance back in 2017 before Epic Games swiftly removed it from the game. This rapid removal contributed to its status as one of Fortnite’s rarest artifacts, with only a handful of players ever having the chance to wield it.

When Epic announced its return, excitement surged among fans who anticipated exhilarating gameplay. Regrettably, the reality was far from their expectations, leading to widespread disappointment.

The Zapotron Returns — But Fails to Function

Following the February 14 update, an influx of player complaints regarding the Zapotron’s ineffectiveness emerged across social media platforms.

Interestingly, PC players seemed to be the most impacted by this glitch, while console users reported smoother experiences. Some players recalled similar issues within Fortnite’s Save the World mode, leading to jokes highlighting their mere lack of skill: “SO IT WASN’T JUST A WeILL ISSUE, ” one player quipped.

Despite the ongoing frustration of the Zapotron’s ineffectiveness, it continued to spawn in chests and drop supplies, leaving players with the paradox of acquiring a weapon they couldn’t use.

In response to the immediate backlash, Epic Games acted promptly, stating: “Ur Zapo wasn’t zappin, we fixed that!” The fix has allowed the Zapotron to deal damage correctly when fully charged, enabling players to unleash their power on opponents as intended.

While the Zapotron has made a comeback after a six-year hiatus, certain modifications have been implemented. It now requires Heavy Ammo, has a reduced base damage of 28, but features a remarkable charge damage multiplier of x613. Note that players can only obtain it throughout this weekend, so strategies to utilize it in gameplay should be prioritized.

As Fortnite OG consistently reintroduces beloved content, it’s clear that Epic Games is attuned to player feedback. Their rapid response to gameplay issues highlights a commitment to enhancing user experience and engagement across the board.
