DLive has officially announced its shutdown, stating that the platform will cease all operations and critical features immediately. This decision marks a significant moment in the evolving landscape of livestreaming services.

On April 7, DLive released a public statement informing users of the service’s closure and guiding them through the necessary steps during this transition. The platform, which had positioned itself as a decentralized alternative in the livestreaming arena, has garnered a diverse community of content creators over the years.

DLive Announces Closure and Immediate Changes

In the official announcement, DLive expressed regret over the closure, stating, “We regret to inform you that the DLive platform will be ceasing operations.” This statement reflects the platform’s commitment to transparency with its users.

As part of the shutdown, DLive has already disabled its top-up feature, which includes subscriptions. The company emphasized, “The top-up function, including subscriptions, has been discontinued effective immediately.”

Users of DLive are urged to take specific actions before the platform completes its shutdown in April. Recommendations include withdrawing any remaining Coins, canceling all active subscriptions, and downloading any content they wish to retain from the service.

The platform has committed to keeping its users informed throughout the wind-down process. In their message, they remarked: “We will continue to share updates regarding the platform’s wind-down timeline to ensure you remain informed throughout this transition.”

DLive closed its announcement by appreciating its community, thanking them for “the incredible memories, the streams, and your unwavering support over the years.”

DLive first captured mainstream interest in 2019 when prominent gamer PewDiePie signed an exclusive livestreaming contract with the platform. He showcased DLive as a creator-first alternative to major services like Twitch and YouTube, emphasizing its lower fees and dedication to supporting content creators directly.

PewDiePie’s endorsement resulted in a significant influx of users to DLive, enhancing the platform’s visibility and broadening its audience base. Initially, DLive operated on its own blockchain system before transitioning to integrate with Tron, promoting itself as a decentralized service with a unique monetization strategy.

Despite the early growth catalyzed by PewDiePie’s involvement, he eventually shifted his focus to YouTube, leading to a decline in DLive’s momentum in subsequent years.
