Gen 7 Pokemon dominates Scarlet & Violet competitive

The 2024 Pokemon competitive season has begun and a Gen 9 DLC has introduced a highly sought-after Alolan starter Pokemon.

The addition of the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet allowed for the inclusion of previous generation Pokemon, including the starters from previous titles, into Gen 9.

Fans were thrilled to see Incineroar make a comeback, as it had already established itself as a top competitor in the EUIC event. This powerful Fire/Dark-type Pokemon boasts excellent stat coverage, an impressive range of moves, and the ability to intimidate opponents, making it a highly sought-after choice for the Doubles VGC format.

According to online reports from fans, Incineroar’s popularity continues to grow as it was the top choice for 70.49% of teams at the Pokemon 2024 Regionals in Indianapolis. In comparison, the second most popular Pokemon was Rapid Strike Urshifu, with a usage rate of 54.10% among teams.

The remaining roster features a few recognizable names from previous generations, such as Amoonguss, renowned for its powerful status-inducing moves, and Pelipper, famous for its ability to manipulate weather conditions.

Despite being a relatively new addition to the game, Incineroar has already made a significant impact in tournaments globally, showcasing its impressive abilities in competitive formats. With its return in The Indigo Disk DLC, fans were understandably thrilled about the potential it could bring to the game.

The upcoming 2024 Pokemon World Championships will be held in Honolulu during the month of August. It would be appropriate for Incineroar to be a prominent presence among the top contenders, as it was first introduced in the Hawaii-based region.
