(G)I-DLE Yuqi Reveals Why She Didn’t Attend Her K-pop Bias Wedding

Despite being invited to her ultimate bias’s wedding for 15 years, (G)I-DLE Yuqi was ultimately unable to attend her idol’s special day for THIS reason.

On May 26, Super Junior’s Ryeowook and Ari officially got married in a private ceremony in Seoul. The intimate wedding was attended by their families and close friends, including members of former girl group Tahiti, S.E.S Bada, Im Siwan, and others.

The most memorable aspect of the ceremony was the reunion of Super Junior OT15 after ten years, which included both inactive members Sungmin and Zhou Mi, as well as former members Kangin, Han Geng, Kibum, and Henry.

Upon receiving this knowledge, ELFs (Super Junior fandom) were overjoyed and shed tears upon seeing the full lineup captured in one frame.

Yuqi’s reaction drew attention from fans at that moment, revealing just how much of an ELF she truly is.

Ever since the “Sorry, Sorry”era in 2009, Yuqi has been a strong supporter of 2nd-generation groups. Despite being a regular teenager at the time, her love for Super Junior never wavered. Even after her debut as a member of (G)I-DLE in 2018, she continued to express her admiration for the group.

Despite her overall support for the group, Yuqi has a clear favorite among its members – none other than Ryeowook!

In the past, she used to regularly attend the idol’s events and would also send him a support truck. Luckily, the 2nd-gen singer reciprocated her support.

Similarly, Yuqi, like any other fan, initially felt envious when Ryeowook made his relationship with Ari public in 2020. However, she eventually congratulated them and wished them happiness.

Since then, her love for him has only grown stronger. Upon learning that he is getting married in 2024, the “Tomboy”singer remarked:

“(Soyeon) kept on teasing me and told me not to cry. I was like, ‘Why should I cry?’ I wish him all the best. It’s a good thing.”

Following that, Yuqi was given the opportunity to have a private meeting with the two of them on Ryeowook’s variety music talk show, “Life Snapshot”Episode 5, which was posted on Heyday’s official YouTube channel.

The female idol stated that the reasons she chose him as her ultimate bias were his vocals, visuals, and his funny yet kind-hearted personality at the time.

On May 27, Chinese fans had the opportunity to converse with Yuqi and discuss being invited to Ryeowook’s wedding.

In this situation, the youthful idol conveyed her remorse by stating:

“I wasn’t able to attend Ryeowook’s wedding yesterday. I was invited to sing songs but I already had a prior schedule.”

On the day of the ceremony, Yuqi also performed at the Hangzhou Strawberry Music Festival, where she showcased her solo talents with songs from her debut mini-album, “YUQ1,”including “Freak.”

Despite having to forgo a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for this event, it was evident that Yuqi thoroughly enjoyed her time with Neverlands (fandom). Undoubtedly, Ryeowook must also be filled with pride for his loyal fan.
