A remarkable and gigantic cat has taken center stage at Hong Kong International Airport, offering feline enthusiasts the perfect backdrop for unique photos. This oversized ginger tabby has quickly become a remarkable attraction for passengers traveling to and from the airport.
The installation, creatively named A Moment to Purr, made its debut on April 3 and has quickly transformed one of the airport’s arrival halls into a whimsical experience. Unlike other iconic monsters like Godzilla, this charming creature is simply seeking a peaceful nap—just don’t wake it!

This eye-catching exhibit features an impressive animatronic cat that not only purrs but also wiggles its ears and gently sways its tail. While the enormous feline lacks an official title, it has affectionately been nicknamed “Catzilla” because of its impressive size.
“Meet a giant cat installation welcoming passengers with comfort and warmth, ” states the official press release.“Inspired by the idea of a virtual pet, this interactive experience invites travelers to engage with the cat through a dedicated kiosk, where they can feed it, interact, and enjoy its playful responses in real-time.”

Guests are encouraged to use a nearby screen to elicit various reactions from Catzilla, perfect for capturing memorable moments. The enormous cat can be located in Terminal 1’s Arrivals Hall A, where it will remain peacefully napping until May 2, 2026. After this date, its future locations remain uncertain, so if you’re longing for a viral snapshot with the world’s largest cat, consider planning a visit to Hong Kong soon.
While Catzilla has certainly captured the hearts of cat lovers globally, it’s not the first airport installation to achieve viral fame. Earlier this year, a South Korean airline transformed its airport lounge into a whimsical instant noodle library, showcasing the innovative spirit airports can embrace.
