Godzilla movies get new rule, but fans aren’t convinced it will stick

Recently, there has not been a shortage of Godzilla movies, however, any new films will have to follow a new rule – although fans are unsure if it is effective.

Although it would have been impossible to overlook, both Godzilla Minus One and Godzilla X Kong have brought the legendary tyrant back into the spotlight in the past year. Minus One achieved great success, and the MonsterVerse film was a massive hit. However, in the future, Godzilla films will likely have a slightly different appearance.

A recent report from parent company Toho has revealed that Godzilla is now prohibited from dying in future projects, as well as preying on people or things.

“Tetsuya Yoshikawa explained that, just like with the Hollywood version, they made sure to check for these things during the script stage of Godzilla Minus One.”

Despite the clear amount of damage he causes in cities, fans are struggling to understand how the new regulations will be implemented.

One fan on Reddit expressed doubt about Minus one preying on people, calling it “BS.”Another fan clarified that there may be a loophole, as Minus one was not actually killing people for food.

“Wow, TOHO is really causing frustration. Will they start restricting the number of teeth Godzilla can have next?”one person complained, while another chimed in on Twitter, “At least we won’t have to fear Godzilla being killed just for having a successor.”

On Twitter/X, the response has been less than positive. One user complained, stating, “They made him the most boring nuclear monster ever.”Another user agreed: “It seems like they’re going for more monster vs monster stories. However, I did appreciate the human element in Minus One, it was the strongest aspect of the film.”

Despite not having announced the next Godzilla movie, one thing is certain – there are no plans for a sequel to Godzilla Minus One at the moment.
