Google Bard AI July 2023 update brings new features and expands globally

Google is making available a slew of changes for its Bard AI, including expanding the chatbot to virtually any country that the search engine is available, an option to change response style, a read-aloud feature, new conversation controls, a new share option, and more.

Starting with the July 2023 update, Google Bard works in 40 languages, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Korean, and Hindi allowing virtually everyone to access the chatbot in their native language. In addition, the chatbot is now available in 238 countries and territories. This is significant since its competitor (ChatGPT) is more widely available than Bard.

In this new wave of updates, similar to Bing Chat, you can now change the tone of Bard’s responses to be longer, shorter, simpler, more casual, or more professional. (At the time of this writing, this is limited to the US.)

Also, there’s a new option that allows you to prompt the chatbot to read responses out loud to learn a specific word pronunciation or want to hear rather than read the answer when you’re multitasking.

Furthermore, as part of the changes, the interface has been updated, moving the controls from the left to the top-right corner. On the left side, you’ll now see your previous conversations that you can pin and rename. In addition, it’s now possible to export code generated from the chatbot to more places.

Google is even adding the option to share responses with others, and if you want to learn more about a specific image, you can now upload image files to Bard for analysis using Google Lens with the ability to ask additional questions about the image.
