“Great concepts, terrible executions”: Naruto fan’s claim on series’ villains under scrutiny by other fandoms

Even after all these years, Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto continues to be revered as one of the greatest animamga series of all time, and for valid reasons. Its reputation is built upon its intricate storyline, unforgettable characters, captivating fight scenes, and iconic antagonists.

The villains of the Naruto series, such as Madara Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, Obito Uchiha and Pain, are highly esteemed by fans. These four characters stand out in the series for their compelling origins and their determination to create a better world.

Despite this, there were some fans who did not share the same viewpoint and expressed their disagreement through a recent post that praised the antagonists in Masashi Kishimoto’s masterpiece.

The Misconceptions Surrounding the Naruto Villains in Other Fandoms

It is widely acknowledged among the Naruto fandom that the antagonists are one of the most notable aspects of the entire series. Zabuza, Madara Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, Obito Uchiha, and Nagato Uzumaki/Pain are just a few of the prominent antagonists who have left a lasting impression on both the series and its fanbase.

Despite this idea, there are some fandoms that do not share the same perspective. A recent post on X stated that the Naruto series raised the standard with their antagonists, and many fans supported this viewpoint. However, some other fandoms, such as Bleach and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, did not agree and argued that their villains are more compelling than those in Naruto.

Despite being part of the Boruto fandom, some fans argued that their villains were superior to those of their predecessor. Similarly, there were also fans within the Naruto fandom who believed that not all four of the aforementioned villains were equally impressive.

Disagreements are a common occurrence in the animanga industry, both within fandoms and between different fandoms. In fact, it is nearly impossible for everyone to reach a consensus, as fans within a single fandom often hold differing opinions.

Despite this, it seems that anime fandoms nowadays have a tendency to diminish the value of other fandoms and criticize others’ opinions without reason, resulting in heated conflicts between them.

Responses from other fandoms on the Naruto fans’ claim

The post on X, which lauded the antagonists of Masashi Kishimoto’s masterpiece, garnered diverse reactions from various fandoms. Many argued that the villains in their own respective franchises surpassed those in Naruto.

Despite the praise for the creative concepts behind the antagonists in Kishimoto’s franchise, one fan argued that their executions did not meet expectations. However, they did make an exception for Itachi Uchiha, acknowledging his successful portrayal.

One fan also noted that the villains in Kishimoto’s series were considered the weakest compared to the antagonists in the other popular Shonen anime, such as One Piece and Bleach.

Another fan argued that while the villains in Kishimoto’s franchise are well-crafted, it does not necessarily place them in a league above all others.

Upon sharing an image, the fan showcased notable villains from various franchises including Meruem and Chrollo Lucilfer from Hunter x Hunter, Griffith from Berserk, Sōsuke Aizen from Bleach, Tomura Shigaraki from My Hero Academia, and Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen.

“Naruto villains are beautifully written but I definitely don’t think they are in a league of their own.”

A fan of the Boruto series argued that their villains were superior to those in the predecessor series because none of them could rival the power of the Ōtsutsuki.

“Boruto >>> Do any of them stand a chance against the Otsutsuki?”

Similarly, a fan from the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure community noted that their franchise’s antagonists are able to match, if not surpass, those in Kishimoto’s franchise with relative ease.

“JOJO villains catch up pretty easily”

Within the anime industry, disagreements are a common occurrence. As a result, it is natural for certain aspects that one fandom values or enjoys to hold less importance for other fandoms.
