Grounded 2 has officially entered early access, making its debut on both PC and Xbox platforms. As it stands, this sequel is still in the developmental phase and is expected to remain in early access for over a year. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game showcases impressive graphics but is not without its flaws, particularly in terms of compatibility with upscalers.

One of the burning questions among players is whether Grounded 2 supports popular upscaling technologies, specifically NVIDIA’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR.

Current Status of DLSS in Grounded 2

Unfortunately, at this time, Grounded 2 does not support DLSS in its early access version.

As of this writing, there has been no official update from Obsidian Entertainment on the inclusion of DLSS. This absence has been a significant point of discussion among players in the Steam community. With the recent introduction of DLSS 4, many players have come to expect this technology in modern games, making native rendering increasingly less favorable.

While Grounded 2 isn’t particularly demanding, achieving a stable 60 FPS at 4K on my RTX 4070 Super has proven challenging at high settings. The addition of DLSS could greatly enhance performance, and many hope the developers implement this feature in future updates.

Current Status of FSR Support

Grounded 2 currently does not offer support for FSR or Intel’s XeSS.

Interestingly, FSR is referenced in the game’s configuration files, suggesting it may be on the horizon, but no formal announcements have been made yet.

Available Upscaling Options in Grounded 2

At present, the only upscaling technology supported by Grounded 2 is Unreal Engine 5’s TSR (Temporal Super Resolution).Players can activate this feature by adjusting the render scale value in the display settings of the game.

For now, I have set the render scale to 75 to maintain a satisfactory visual experience at 4K without sacrificing too much clarity. Players can adjust this setting down to 25, though I advise against it, as it results in significantly reduced visual fidelity, especially on a 1080p monitor.

It is my hope that the developers will soon integrate support for DLSS, FSR, and XeSS into Grounded 2. Currently, achieving a smooth framerate at higher resolutions presents a significant challenge. Additionally, the game’s graphics settings are somewhat limited, making it difficult for players to find an ideal balance between performance and visual quality.
