Fans of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series are experiencing significant impatience as they await the highly anticipated release of GTA 6. Given the prolonged waiting period, many have taken creative action by crafting a version of the leaked game map within GTA 5.

Since Rockstar made their official announcement trailer for GTA 6 in 2023, there has been little additional communication from the developers. Despite various leaks detailing the game’s potential map size, characters, and storyline, fans remain in the dark regarding any official updates.

Creating a Fan-Made GTA 6 Map Within GTA 5

Taking initiative, a YouTuber known as Dark Space has dedicated himself to replicating the leaked map of GTA 6 within the confines of GTA 5. He has been sharing progress updates on his YouTube channel and X (formerly Twitter).

Currently, Dark Space has successfully recreated Vice Beach and is now focused on enhancing this location with additional details, drawing upon the collaborative efforts of other fans who have previously worked on similar projects.

In his recent progress update, Dark Space expressed, “Vice Beach is nearly done. Adding trees, props, and custom Vice City-themed models. After that, I’ll likely work on the Venetian Islands.”

In a conversation with IGN, Dark Space also shared his thoughts on the potential risks associated with fan creations. He acknowledged the possibility of intervention from Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, which has a history of removing fan-made content. While companies like Nintendo are notorious for stringent regulations, Rockstar has also taken action against fan mods in the past.

Despite the risks, Dark Space remains optimistic, clarifying, “This is just me making my own fan-made map in GTA 5 itself. Any assets utilized are from GTA 5 itself. This is a common practice in the community.”

Looking Ahead: The Future of GTA 6

GTA 6 is set to take players to a new location, Leonida, drawing inspiration from Florida in the real world. This new setting promises to include Vice City, the series’ iconic representation of Miami, beloved from earlier titles.

As for the release date of GTA 6, it remains uncertain. While Rockstar has maintained that the game is scheduled for release in 2025, some insiders speculate it could be pushed back to 2026. Additionally, recent rumors indicate that new gameplay footage might surface soon, offering fans a long-awaited glimpse into the game.
