Tom Henderson, a well-known figure in the gaming industry, has expressed skepticism regarding the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 in May 2026, especially in light of ongoing speculation surrounding the game.
In early May, Rockstar Games disappointed fans when they confirmed that GTA 6 would not hit the shelves in 2025 as previously hoped. Instead, the developers have set a new tentative release date for May 26, 2026.
According to Rockstar, this delay is essential. The company stated, “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
Since this announcement, Rockstar has remained largely silent about the game, prompting speculation that the release may be pushed back even further into late 2026.
Uncertain Future: Tom Henderson’s Perspective on GTA 6 Release
Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has shared his doubts about the proposed May 2026 release date, suggesting that it may not materialize.
During a recent episode of Insider Gaming’s weekly podcast, Henderson remarked, “To be honest, I don’t think that it is gonna release in May. For some reason, I just cannot see GTA 6 releasing in May. All the rumblings and so on just doesn’t seem to suggest it.” He advised fans not to treat his commentary as definitive news.
The gaming industry expert referenced the explosive release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, which significantly impacted platforms like Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. He stressed that Rockstar must consider pre-loading capabilities and marketing strategies associated with prominent releases.
“Rockstar has shown time and again that they are perfectionists. GTA is such a monumental franchise that even minor bugs can lead to major media scrutiny, ” Henderson cautioned.“I personally believe we’re looking at an October release, allowing them to capitalize on holiday sales.”

It is crucial to note that Henderson clarified he is not reporting an official delay but merely sharing his personal insights on the potential for a shift in the release date.
Yet, his comments have sparked concern among the Grand Theft Auto fanbase. Some fans expressed their worries, highlighting Henderson’s credibility in the gaming community.
“Still quite a worrying statement with how credible and in the know he is, ” noted one fan, while another added, “Another delay would do nothing but make people lose more faith and further the narrative that it ‘can’t live up to expectations.’” However, there are also fans who remain optimistic, with one saying, “It’s going to sell regardless of the time period. I take this with a grain of salt.”
