There are multiple approaches to sourcing gunpowder in Windrose. If your focus is on crafting, it will require substantial time before you unlock the necessary recipe. You’ll find the gunpowder crafting option at the Millstones workbench, which becomes available after you acquire Corn, a vital resource located in the second biome, following your adventure through the Coastal Jungle.

To construct the Millstone, you will need 1 Millstone Part and 15 units of Wood. Once you have crafted the Millstone, you can produce gunpowder using the recipe that requires: 10 Sulfur and 20 Ash to create 10 Homemade Gunpowder.

Reaching the second biome may take some time, especially if you’re eager to utilize ranged weapons like the Blunderbuss. In the interim, looting the Homemade Gunpowder from various sources is a viable alternative, and it could potentially be easier than the crafting route.

As you explore the Coastal Jungle biome, you will encounter a quest involving the retrieval of four Marks from a pirate camp. This location is inhabited by various pirates, including Musketeers and Lieutenants, all of whom drop Homemade Gunpowder. With a steady supply of enemies, you won’t find it difficult to amass a good quantity of gunpowder, although using ranged weapons might result in losing more than you collect.

For optimal farming of gunpowder, consider using melee weapons during battles. Besides defeating pirates, this pirate camp features several Supply Caches that consistently contain Homemade Gunpowder. A single trip to this area can yield over a stack of homemade gunpowder, making it a highly productive venture.

Importantly, both the Supply Caches and the pirate enemies respawn, making it advantageous to establish a fast travel point nearby for efficient farming. Additionally, you may occasionally find Homemade Gunpowder by looting chests at various points of interest. However, this method is less reliable compared to consistently farming at the pirate camp.
