In Grounded 2, Acorn Shells and Acorn Tops are essential resources that unlock various crafts and structures, contributing significantly to your base’s advancement while also providing valuable fighter-type armor pieces.
Despite their importance, Acorns can be challenging to locate. To assist you in your search, we’ve compiled the best strategies and locations to find them in Grounded 2.
Locating Acorns in Grounded 2

Before you can gather Acorns, you’ll need to obtain the Omni-Hammer tool. Begin your quest at the Ranger Station to upgrade the Omni-Hammer to at least tier 1.
Once you have the Omni-Hammer ready, head to the oak tree located to the south of the laboratory or starting area. Reference the map and accompanying oak tree image for guidance.
Acorns typically spawn around the roots of the oak tree, rather than just at its base. You’ll often find them scattered along the roots before reaching the tree’s center.
Beware of the wildlife in the area; Orb Weavers, Spiderlings, Red Soldier Ants, and Red Worker Ants are commonly found near the oak roots. As you venture toward the center, Bombadier Beetles may also appear to add to the challenge.
If you are not prepared to confront Orb Weavers or Bombadier Beetles, you can choose to evade these threats and focus solely on gathering Acorns. For a better chance against Bombadier Beetles, equip yourself with at least tier 2 armor pieces. If you’re part of a team, coordinating with your teammates can make it easier to tackle these tough enemies together.
Each Acorn typically yields at least two Acorn Shells. While Acorn Tops may not always drop, you can generally expect one for every Acorn collected.
When harvesting Acorns, it’s advisable to gather a significant quantity before returning to your base. The oak tree may be somewhat distant from your camp, especially if it’s near the Ranger Station. Remember to carry water with you as well, as locating it can prove difficult—particularly with hostile creatures lurking nearby.
