Obtaining the Common Cape in Minecraft

The Common Cape, featuring the iconic grass block design, is a must-have for true Minecraft fans. To add this elegant cape to your character, simply log into your Microsoft account via the Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Notably, this cape is accessible in both the Java and Bedrock editions. Remember, however, that you need to claim it through Bedrock before accessing it in Java. It will be available to all players who log in to Minecraft Bedrock after May 6, 2025, and you have until May 5, 2026 to claim it.

Steps to Claim the Minecraft Common Cape

After logging into Minecraft with your Microsoft Account, you’ll be able to equip the Common Cape in both Bedrock and Java editions. While the methods to equip capes differ slightly, the process is straightforward.

For the Java Edition, prior to launching your game, navigate to the Skins tab to modify your character. Under the “Cape”section, select the Common Cape and click on the Save and Use button.

If the cape does not appear right away, pause your game, go to Options > Customization, and ensure the Cape button is toggled on. This action ensures your cape is consistently visible during gameplay.

With your cape now adorned, press the F5 key to admire it from a third-person perspective in both editions. Should you accidentally log out, simply use your credentials to sign back in and pick up where you left off in your Minecraft adventures.
