DON’T NOD has returned with an exciting new title, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, leveraging the incredible capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 to deliver stunning visuals and an immersive gaming experience. However, it’s important to note that the game’s performance demands are on the higher side. Players looking to enhance their gaming experience can utilize technologies like DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) to boost frame rates, although the game currently lacks native ultrawide support.
The developmental team was transparent about the absence of ultrawide support upon launch. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of Rose from the widescreen gaming community, players can now enjoy a patch that effectively addresses this limitation.
Enabling Ultrawide Support in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage
The newly released patch by Rose introduces ultrawide support to Lost Records: Bloom & Rage while eliminating the frustrating black bars that previously appeared during both gameplay and cutscenes.
Installing this patch is straightforward. Follow these simple steps:
- Visit this GitHub link.
- Download the patch file labeled Lost. Records.ultrawide.v1.0.zip found under the Assets section.
- Extract the zip file into the installation directory of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage:
\UNI\Binaries\Win64
After extracting the files, launch the game, and you will notice that the black bars during gameplay and cutscenes have been successfully removed. Below is a screenshot shared by Rose, showcasing a cutscene post-patch installation:
Attribution goes to Rose for creating and meticulously testing this patch at resolutions of 2560×1080 and 3840×1080.
As of now, the patch appears to function flawlessly, with no major issues reported. Some scenes might show awkward compositions since the game wasn’t optimized for ultrawide displays, but players generally won’t find this distracting. If you wish to remove the patch, simply delete the files extracted from the zip. Additionally, Rose may provide updates on their GitHub page, though the current version is quite effective.
It seems unlikely that the developers will later incorporate ultrawide support, as there have been no indications to suggest this. Overall, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage serves as a commendable PC port, though it could benefit from more customizable features typical of modern titles. For players interested in further performance improvements, there are also options available to disable chromatic aberration, depth of field, and film grain.
