In Titan Quest 2, players will encounter a perplexing quest titled “Cages in the Dark” while exploring the Flooded Farmlands near the Prygos Outskirts.

This quest draws adventurers into a cave featuring a locked door and an intriguing clue involving braziers. Below, we provide a clear solution for the brazier puzzle in TQ2.

Solving the Brazier Puzzle in Titan Quest 2

Should you come across the aforementioned brazier puzzle near the enigmatic locked door, know that you are not alone in your confusion. Many players struggle with this challenge.

The locked door provides a cryptic hint:

“You imagine yourself lighting a lone brazier. Then a pair of braziers. Then a trio. Then the thoughts fade.”

Initially, players might assume the door’s clue refers to the three braziers located directly beside it. After attempting to light one, then two, and finally three, frustration may set in. However, the solution actually pertains to braziers located in different regions of the cave.

Within the cave, you will discover three distinct areas, each featuring one, two, and three braziers respectively. Referring to the image, the area to the north contains a single brazier, while the eastern section holds two. It’s crucial to light the braziers in the correct order: first, the one in the north, followed by the two in the east, and finally, the three located next to the locked door.

Once you successfully light the braziers in this sequence, the locked door will automatically unlock, revealing a non-responsive individual inside. There’s no need to coax him out—simply loot the room for various items. Caution is advised when closing the door; be sure you’re outside, as getting trapped requires using the portal to escape, although you can always portal out after collecting your loot.

Return to the Pyrgos Outskirts waypoint and proceed west to the small town where you will find Timandra. Engage in conversation with her to complete the Cages in the Dark quest. Interestingly, the quest does not offer tangible rewards during this interaction since you have already garnered the benefits prior to speaking with her.

Upon unlocking the mysterious door, players receive a total of 2, 440 experience points along with 10x Embers of Night.

With the brazier puzzle resolved and the Cages in the Dark quest concluded, you can now continue your adventure towards Prygos village.
