Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the much-anticipated remake of the iconic PS2 classic, reimagines the game using Unreal Engine 5. While this updated version boasts impressive visual enhancements, players have noted a downside: it is restricted to 60 FPS even on PC. This frame rate limitation appears linked to the original game’s physics engine, yet it still leaves many disappointed.

Fortunately, a member of the modding community named Lyall has stepped in to provide a solution. The release of a patch has successfully lifted the 60 FPS cap, allowing players to experience the game at smoother frame rates.

Steps to Remove the FPS Cap in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Lyall’s patch not only removes the 60 FPS cap but also introduces ultrawide support, tremendously enhancing gameplay for those whose systems can accommodate it. Here’s how to install the patch for an upgraded experience:

  • Download the latest release zip file by visiting this link (version 0.0.2 as of this writing).
  • Extract the contents of the zip file (MGSDeltaFix_0.0.2.zip) into the directory where you have Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater installed:

steamapps\common\MGSDelta\Binaries\Win64

  • Open the MGSDeltaFix.ini file using a text editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++.Locate the section labeled [Uncap Framerate] and change the value of Enabled to true.

  • After saving the configuration file, exit the editor.

Once you restart Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the game will now run with an unlocked frame rate. Special thanks to Lyall for developing and testing this invaluable patch.

While the newly unlocked frame rate significantly improves performance, it is vital to note that this mod has not been extensively tested and could introduce unforeseen bugs. The developers intentionally set a cap of 60 FPS, and there are no in-game options to exceed this limit.

If you encounter any issues, you can revert the changes by setting the frame rate value back to false. In addition to modifying the frame rate, the patch also allows for skipping the introductory videos and supports ultrawide displays.

As players embrace this user-generated content, it raises the question of whether the developers will consider integrating a higher frame rate option officially. However, given the game’s demanding nature, achieving more than 60 FPS consistently might be unfeasible for many systems.
