Baldur’s Gate 3 has recently introduced an exciting photo mode in its Patch 8 update, allowing players to capture and share stunning images of their adventures and favorite characters.
Since its debut in 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 has captivated gamers with its immersive storytelling, rich character development, and impactful choices. Despite offering a myriad of features, the absence of crossplay and a comprehensive photo mode had left fans wanting more.
After much anticipation and player feedback, the long-awaited photo mode feature finally arrives with Patch 8, marking the game’s final major update. Here’s how you can utilize this exciting new functionality in BG3.
Understanding Photo Mode in Baldur’s Gate 3
Activating photo mode is simple: on PC, just press F9; for PlayStation and Xbox, click both analogue sticks simultaneously. You can also select the photo icon located next to the minimap with your mouse.
This mode can be accessed at almost any moment during gameplay, whether you are exploring the expansive world, engaged in a heated battle, or viewing a cinematic sequence.
Upon entering photo mode, players are greeted with a plethora of options designed to help craft the perfect snapshot. You can choose different poses and facial expressions for your characters, and apply various filters and gradients to enhance the overall look of your image.

It is worth noting, however, that while in a cutscene, character positioning cannot be altered. Conversely, when out in the open, you have the freedom to reposition characters and adjust the camera angle as desired.
Additionally, over 300 charming stickers are available to add a personal touch to your photos. Creative modders even have the ability to develop and introduce more stickers, enhancing the fun and creativity of the photo-taking experience.
Once you’re satisfied with your composition, capture the image using your platform’s screenshot function. For PC players, this might involve pressing the Print Screen key or using CTRL + Shift + S. On consoles, simply tap the screenshot button on your controller.
After capturing your masterpiece, it will be saved in your console’s media gallery or your PC’s images folder, allowing for easy access and sharing.
