After an extensive 14-month journey in Early Access, Hades 2 is poised for an imminent full release. The talented developers at Supergiant Games have recently hinted at what could be the final update prior to this much-anticipated launch.
First unveiled in late 2022, Hades 2 represents the inaugural sequel for the critically acclaimed studio, Supergiant Games. The announcement sent ripples throughout the gaming community, especially considering the first installment’s widespread acclaim and success.
The Early Access phase officially commenced on May 5, 2024, following a brief technical test. Within days, it shattered records for the development team, quickly escalating to a remarkable success on Steam. The game attracted over 100, 000 simultaneous players and secured its position as the top seller during that period.
Since launching in Early Access, the developers have diligently rolled out regular updates designed to enhance replayability and enrich the gaming experience, reminiscent of the evolutionary journey of its predecessor.

The Early Access launch of Hades 2 has proven to be another significant triumph for Supergiant Games.
The Countdown to Hades 2’s Full Release
On June 17, 2025, the final significant content update during Early Access, dubbed The Unseen Update, was released. This update introduced new gameplay features, additional conversations, and an expanded array of combat choices for the character Melinoë.
At that time, the development team encouraged players to monitor their Development Roadmap for hints regarding a forthcoming 1.0 release. Shortly after, a minor patch was released, suggesting that the 1.0 launch could be just around the corner.
“We’ll keep monitoring your feedback, though this will likely be our final patch before our v1.0 launch, whenever that may be!”
While a definitive release date for Hades 2 remains unknown, the information indicates that the version 1.0 build is clearly the next step.
To offer some perspective, the original Hades experienced Early Access from December 2018 until September 2020, totaling 21 months. If Hades 2 were to mirror that same schedule, a full release could potentially align with March 2026. However, it seems unlikely that this will be the case.
It appears more feasible that a complete launch will occur by the end of 2025. However, keep in mind that the game will not be available across all platforms simultaneously. Supergiant recently featured in a Nintendo Direct presentation, announcing a period of timed exclusivity for consoles.
Therefore, upon its full launch, Hades 2 is expected to initially release on PC, as well as Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. The timeline for its availability on PlayStation and Xbox platforms remains uncertain.
