Is there a release date for Hades 2?
There is no official release date for Hades 2 at this time. However, according to Supergiant Games’ statement, early access is expected to begin “fairly soon”after the conclusion of the technical test.
The technical test for Hades 2 began on April 17, 2024 and was exclusively available to a select group of Steam users. The developers have recently revealed their intention to conclude the test on Monday, April 29, after a period of almost two weeks. They expressed their gratitude to participants for assisting the team in identifying and resolving various important issues that had previously gone unnoticed.
It is uncertain whether this means we are only a few weeks or a couple of months away from Early Access, but followers can expect a relatively short wait.
Despite its initial plan for a 2023 release, the early access of Hades II was postponed due to the developers’ intention to provide an equal amount of content as the original game had during its early access launch on Steam. This requires the team to have more time to prepare.
In a similar manner to the initial game, the sequel will be released in early access and will continue to receive frequent updates until a final version is available at a later date.
Hades 2 Platforms
Hades 2 will initially launch on PC through early access, with a subsequent release on consoles planned.
The initial release of Hades on consoles occurred after it exited the early access stage, with its debut on Switch preceding its launch on PlayStation and Xbox the subsequent year. Whether the developers will adhere to a similar timeline or capitalize on the anticipation by simultaneously releasing Hades on all consoles remains to be seen.
Steam and the Epic Games Store will both offer early access.
Hades 2 story
Hades 2 gives players a new protagonist to put through hell.
The sequel, Hades 2, allows players to step into the divine role of Melinoe, the Princess of the Underworld and sister of the original protagonist, Zagreus. While the first game focused on Zagreus’ attempts to escape the underworld, the second installment follows Melinoe as she seeks to defeat Chronos, the powerful Titan of Time.
From the footage we have observed, it seems that Chronus has successfully captured Hades. As a result, players will have to battle through various levels in order to rescue their father from his grasp.
Hades 2 Gameplay
Hades will continue to be an action roguelike that expands upon the successful gameplay of its predecessor. Players will have to navigate Melinoe through constantly shifting dungeons, where failure results in a complete reset.
Despite being alone, the Gods of Olympus will be present to bestow boons that grant Melinoe powerful abilities and buffs. Apollo’s return has been confirmed and a number of new characters will also join in to aid her on her journey.
The princess now possesses a variety of new weapons, including a magical staff that can cast powerful spells to fend off enemies. There are even more weapons to discover as the game progresses.
