The perfect combination of Hades 2 and the Steam Deck was a match made in either heaven or hell. Supergiant Games recognized the success of the original Hades on the Steam Deck and made sure that the early access release of Hades 2 was fully supported by the Deck from the very beginning. This decision proved to be fruitful, as Hades 2 was the top game played on the Steam Deck in May 2024, according to Valve.
Hades 2 Tops May 2024’s Steam Deck List
Every month, Valve releases a list of the 20 most popular games on the Steam Deck. Over time, we have noticed some familiar titles such as Vampires Survivors, Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077. However, in just under a month after its release, Hades 2 quickly rose to the top.

Despite it not being a major shock, Hades 2 managed to double the number of players the original Hades had during its launch, reaching a peak of 103K players. Additionally, Hades 2 already has more content than the final version of Hades, with a wide range of build options, and future updates are expected to bring even more content.
With all these features, Hades 2 is an ideal game for the Steam Deck. Although it offers improved visuals compared to its predecessor, it remains easy on system requirements. It also boasts complete controller compatibility and a properly scaled UI for the Deck’s resolution, along with support for Steam Cloud.
Despite the success of the Fallout TV Show, Hades 2 is not the only game to make it onto the list. Three Fallout games have also secured spots in the top 20, while Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077, all of which are known for their high system requirements, continue to hold strong positions.
Hades 2 is an extensive game, with numerous items to collect, weapons to unlock, and bosses to defeat.
