Harry Potter’s most despicable villain just returned – but there’s a catch

Does she really have no business here? That is the question on the minds of Harry Potter fans eagerly anticipating Dolores Umbridge’s comeback. However, things may not be as they appear.

For countless film enthusiasts, the Harry Potter movies have become a cultural milestone, while for numerous non-magical individuals, the essence of Hogwarts remains enduring.

In addition to spinoffs such as The Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts, as well as the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy, there is also a new Harry Potter TV series currently in development.

When fans caught a glimpse of Dolores Umbridge, the villain from Order of the Phoenix, supposedly on set, their reaction was not surprising. Unfortunately, the truth is related to the wizarding world at Universal Studios Orlando.

The Facebook page for Harry Potter fans shared a post announcing that Imelda Staunton will be reprising her role as Umbridge in the upcoming Harry Potter theme park at the Orlando Resort.

Staunton has returned to the set as her infamous character, who was first seen in the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series. Umbridge replaces Dumbledore, causing disappointment among the characters, and it doesn’t take long for her to become the target of mischief (if you know what I mean).

Additional footage has been recorded for the Battle at the Ministry attraction, where non-magical individuals are taken on a journey through the British Ministry of Magic to witness Umbridge’s trial. However, the ride takes an unexpected turn as Umbridge attempts to flee and create chaos for those in charge.

“Many fans expressed their joy at seeing the actress reprise her role. Despite not liking the character, they admire the actress. One fan even pointed out that she looks exactly the same as she did 17 years ago in The Order of the Phoenix, and praised her for her timeless beauty.”

Assistant director Anisha Vyas Burgos praised Staunton for her performance, describing it as “absolutely brilliant.”However, apart from a few green screen shots, the public has not yet seen the final look of her new scenes.

Staunton had previously stated that she did not believe she would ever reprise her role, but the promise of more magic and wizardry clearly changed her mind.

The Universal ride is scheduled to open in 2025, so if you’re interested in seeing what she’s been up to, it would be a good idea to purchase tickets.
