Hasan Fan Partially Pays Off College Tuition by Monetizing Clips on Twitch

After HasanAbi met a fan who had partially paid off their college tuition by monetizing stream clips of his on Twitch, he was left stunned.

The University of California, Los Angeles was recently visited by American Twitch streamer and YouTuber Hasan Doğan Piker, who is popularly known as ‘HasanAbi’ online. He delivered pizza to support protesting students and faculty during his visit.

During their visit, the content creator was astonished when a fan at the college event shared that they had managed to use the streamer’s Twitch clips to help pay off a portion of their tuition.

The student clarified that they managed to achieve this by operating a fan channel on Twitch called ‘HasanAbi_waitingroom’, where they re-broadcasted the streamer’s content during Hasan’s offline hours.

Hasan expressed disbelief as he asked, “You were able to pay your tuition?”He went on to say that there was “no way”and inquired if the student was being honest.

Despite this, HasanAbi_waitingroom maintained the truth of the situation and even expressed pride in the fan channel. He then elaborated that he was able to earn money from reposting because the popular streamer did not copyright his content, and he expressed gratitude for this.

Hasan praised the student’s hard work as “amazing”and expressed gratitude for his dedication during the live stream, giving a shoutout to his fan channel’s handle. Later, he shared a clip of their conversation on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “F*** copyright.”

Fans were delighted by the endearing exchange, with one individual describing it as a “moment of parental pride”. Another remarked, “This is one of the aspects I love most about online communities and YouTube channels – spreading awareness and providing opportunities for financial stability is a wonderful thing.”

Despite being a Reddit user, one individual decided to examine Hasan’s choice to not copyright his material from a different angle. They stated, “Looking at it from a capitalist standpoint, Hasan has made a calculated decision that the benefit he gets from his supporters, collaborators, and individuals simply trying to profit off his content outweighs the benefit he would receive from aggressively enforcing his copyright.”
