Hashira Training: How the anime sets up Demon Slayer’s final arc better than the manga ever could

The final arc of Demon Slayer is expected to be the most captivating part of the entire story. Season 4 of the anime is currently airing and the most recent episode included several anime-only scenes. Ufotable has once again demonstrated why they are considered one of the top animation studios in the industry. The Hashira Training arc in the manga did not reveal much, leading many readers to believe it was rushed.

The anime version, however, took an entire episode to focus on the initial part of the Hashira Training under the leadership of Tengen Uzui. The dynamic between the characters was highly enjoyable to witness. Moreover, the entertainment was heightened by the intense battle between Tanjiro and the previous Sound Hashira. The anime effectively succeeded in not only providing entertainment, but also setting up the final arc of Demon Slayer in a powerful manner.

Demon Slayer’s Final Arc: The Impact of Ufotable’s Anime-Original Scenes

In the final arc of Demon Slayer, the remaining demon hunters engage in a battle against Kibutsuji Muzan, with the Corps’ ultimate objective being to defeat him. In the current Hashira Training arc, the anime introduces several unnamed demon hunters who may initially seem unimportant to the current narrative. However, these characters were previously featured in the manga and will play a crucial role in the ultimate climax of Demon Slayer’s final arc.

In the manga, a demon hunter is seen asking his comrades to protect and shield the Hashira with their bodies, as they were the only ones capable of standing up against Kibutsuji Muzan. These demon hunters were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. This same character also makes an appearance in the anime.

Despite his best efforts, the demon hunter struggled to keep pace with Tanjiro and displayed clear signs of fear. This was especially evident during patrols, as he was visibly shaken by the presence of Nakime’s eye, which had infiltrated the training grounds of the Hashiras and demon hunters.

Despite facing challenges during his training, the character still had a significant character development in the anime. He persevered and accepted that he may not be able to match Tanjiro’s abilities, but he refused to let that discourage him. He embraced his role and made a determined vow to continue growing and becoming as strong as possible.

The demon hunter, who remains unnamed, displayed his unwavering determination to become more powerful in order to support Tanjiro and the other Hashiras in any way possible. His fellow comrades joined in and pledged to do the same. This heartwarming moment was exclusive to the anime and was not depicted in the manga.

In the most recent episode, Ufotable has established the groundwork for Demon Slayer’s final arc. It will be intriguing to observe how the animation studio will hint at significant moments and developments in the upcoming arc. The next episode is scheduled to premiere on June 2, 2024, and fans are eagerly anticipating the next phase of training, featuring the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito.

Keep an eye out for additional updates on anime and manga throughout the year 2024.
