Helldivers 2 players eager for the addition of melee weapons

The Helldivers 2 community is clamoring for melee weapons, believing it would strengthen their fight for Super-Earth.

Helldivers 2 features a wide variety of deadly weapons and life-saving armor. While many soldiers are waiting for the release of mechas and all-terrain vehicles, that hasn’t stopped them from wanting more content.

Indeed, one of the most eagerly awaited additions is the arrival of melee weapons. As in any game with hordes of enemies, players in Helldivers 2 can often find themselves overwhelmed. We think in particular of the Terminides which attack in groups and multiply.

So, to help combat the threats of Super-Earth, the Helldivers 2 community wants the developers to add more deadly close-quarters combat options.

On the official Helldivers 2 Reddit page, player xXIns1d1ousXx presented his number of melee kills. He humorously claimed that he wouldn’t “stop”until the developers added a real melee weapon. Currently, the only melee option players have is their firearm. It can indeed be used to bludgeon enemies.

While it can get you out of a tough situation against weaker enemies, the action lacks power.

“Honestly, it would be cool if we could have melee options as both secondary weapons and special weapons,” one player commented. “Maybe even some you could use in tandem with your pistol like the ballistic shield.”

Others pointed out how new melee weapons would help spread the community’s freedom and democracy across the galaxy. “A sword for quickly slicing through crowds and a hammer for breaking armor would be extremely democratic,” joked one player.

Others have also said that hammers and lightsabers would make great additions. “Sometimes all the aliens need is a good blow with a hammer but the tip of the gun isn’t enough,” one commenter responded. “Give me a hammer or a f***ing lightsaber.”

It should be noted that the developers still have a lot of Helldivers 1 content to add. Indeed, the Illuminites and the Sabers are among the most anticipated.

Regardless, it’s clear that the Helldivers 2 community is eager to add melee weapons to their arsenal.
