Initiating the Volatile Flintbeetle Quest

The adventure to find the Volatile Flintbeetles commences at the Wish Board located in Bone Bottom village. Upon accepting this quest, your goal will be to locate and eliminate three of these hazardous creatures. Although you can follow their tracks found in The Marrow by interacting with their droppings, you may prefer to proceed directly to their fixed map locations to save time. Beware, though—these Volatile Flintbeetles are not to be underestimated and can easily surprise the unprepared player.

Locations of the Volatile Flintbeetles

First Volatile Flintbeetle

The first Flintbeetle awaits just above the initial bench in The Marrow. Upon interacting with its droppings, they will guide you to the left, ascending to a previous chamber.

Once you find the Flintbeetle, it will be affixed to the ceiling. Be prepared for action, as the terrain can be tricky; however, you can utilize surrounding enemies to heal if necessary.

Second Volatile Flintbeetle

Your second target is located in the same chamber, specifically where one of the Lost Fleas can be found. Head towards the area marked in the image below.

Retrieve the second Flintbeetle embedded in the upper-right wall. We recommend clearing out other enemies in the area first; they can complicate the battle and obstruct your escape routes.

Third Volatile Flintbeetle

Strategies for Defeating Volatile Flintbeetles

Engaging Volatile Flintbeetles requires awareness of their attack patterns. Here are the three primary attacks you will encounter:

Charge Attack with Explosive Trail: Avoid this by moving away from the beetle, as the explosives will cause damage if you’re positioned behind it.
Jumping Attack with Explosive Arc: Your best defense here is either to take cover in the small safe area beneath the arc or to step back to avoid impact.
Lava Bullet Rain: Keep your distance and prepare to dodge this aerial assault.

Be cautious, as the Volatile Flintbeetles will unleash a final explosion upon defeat, posing a threat if your health is already low.

Rewards for the Volatile Flintbeetles Quest

Upon vanquishing all three Volatile Flintbeetles and collecting their loot, return to the Wish Board to claim your reward: a Memory Locket.
