Honor’s Magic V3 could be the thinnest foldable phone yet

Honor’s Magic V2, upon its release, was an incredibly slim foldable phone. However, with the Magic V3, Honor aims to surpass all expectations.

Foldable phones tend to be bulky, which can discourage people from using these versatile devices due to their large size.

Despite being a smartphone maker, Honor is aiming to defy expectations by releasing another foldable phone that is remarkably thin. The company recently shared a teaser image featuring the side view of their upcoming device, the Honor Magic V3.

Honor has not yet released any details about their new smartphone. The Magic V2 was slightly thicker than the standard non-foldable devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S 24 Ultra and the Pixel 8 Pro.

A source known as “Teme”on X has revealed the essential details of the upcoming phone. They claim that the Honor Magic V3 will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and will boast a battery capacity of over 5,000 mAh.

The X/Twitter post mentioned by the tipster states that the phone may not be thinner than 9mm, but incorporating a battery pack larger than 5,000 mAh into such a slim design is a difficult task in itself.

Additionally, he stated that the phone would be compatible with 65W fast charging through an ultra-thin USB-C port. The incorporation of a top-of-the-line processor, a sizable battery, and rapid charging capabilities also requires a proficient cooling system. Nevertheless, given the restricted size, it will be intriguing to witness how Honor accomplishes this task.

The leaked information also indicates that the phone will have a weight of “22x grams,”indicating a maximum weight of 229 grams. This would make the Magic V30 at least 30 grams lighter than Samsung’s current flagship foldable phone.

Despite not disclosing the exact release date, the company is expected to unveil the Honor Magic V3 around the same time as the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, possibly to compete with Samsung’s flagship phone. The initial launch will be restricted to China, but there are plans for it to be introduced in other regions worldwide at a later date.
