The latest chapter of My Hero Academia, chapter 421, marked a significant moment in the manga as it showcased the arrival of additional heroes and Class 1-A students to the battlefield. This final battle against All For One signifies the commencement of the manga’s ultimate war arc, with the intensity increasing with each subsequent chapter.
Despite the latest chapter hinting at the possibility of the mangaka, Kohei Horikoshi, rushing the climax of the final fight in a detrimental manner, it may ultimately jeopardize the highly anticipated perfect ending that fans have eagerly awaited.
Kohei Horikoshi’s decision to rush the My Hero Academia series ending seems likely after the events in chapter 421.
In chapter 421 of My Hero Academia, the final battle between All For One and Deku took a surprising turn as many of Deku’s friends and allies joined forces to defeat the Demon Lord and bring an end to the epic fight.
As additional students and Pro Heroes emerged from the portals and joined the battle against All For One, the final showdown bore a striking resemblance to the climax of the widely popular Marvel movie, Avengers: Endgame, where a multitude of heroes gathered to confront Thanos and his massive army.
As the My Hero Academia manga progresses, it becomes increasingly apparent that Kohei Horikoshi is setting the stage for a final showdown between the Hero society and All For One. All of the Heroes introduced thus far are coming together to support Deku in his quest to defeat All For One and bring an end to his tyrannical rule.
While witnessing All For One battle against the entire Hero Society may be a truly unforgettable and grand moment, it is crucial to acknowledge that it takes away the chance for other deserving characters to showcase their abilities.
At its heart, My Hero Academia follows the journey of Deku and his classmates at U.A. High as they strive to become the greatest heroes of all time. With the final showdown approaching, it is clear to readers that Deku and his friends will be the ones to defeat TomurAFO and put an end to his reign of terror once and for all.
In the 421st chapter of the manga, Deku’s classmates from U.A. High joined him on the battlefield to fight alongside him. This had fans eagerly anticipating the display of their potential as the next generation of heroes as they worked together to defeat All For One. However, instead of the expected U.A. High students, the battlefield was filled with other already established and seemingly irrelevant heroes.
It can be argued that having all hands on deck is necessary to put an end to a calamity like All For One, but it diminishes the significance of the newer generation of heroes being the ones to defeat the main antagonist of the series. Additionally, the chapter foreshadowed the likely final showdown between Deku and Tomura Shigaraki, with Deku wielding the full power of One For All.
While this approach may certainly fulfill Horikoshi’s desire for an Avengers: Endgame moment, there is also a way for him to achieve this without compromising the narrative. If Horikoshi dedicates time to carefully building towards and executing the ultimate climax for his masterpiece, the series would undoubtedly have a more satisfying conclusion than the one it seems to be heading towards.
To avoid rushing and prematurely concluding the epic final battle of the series, Horikoshi should instead prioritize allowing Deku and his friends to work together and take center stage in defeating All For One.
By shifting the attention away from the irrelevant characters and towards the newer generation of heroes, who would unite their powers to defeat the Demon Lord, Horikoshi may be able to deliver a flawless conclusion to his masterpiece.
