The Diablo 4 community is abuzz with excitement over the Vessel of Hatred expansion, with prominent figures like Rhykker and Raxxanterax sharing their enthusiastic reviews. They assert that this update addresses many of the game’s longstanding issues and significantly enhances the overall gameplay experience.
The release of Vessel of Hatred marks a pivotal moment for Diablo 4, standing as the franchise’s inaugural expansion.
While several leading content creators previewed the Vessel of Hatred expansion and Diablo 4 Season 6 during the public test realm (PTR), the recent lifting of the embargo has flooded the community with their insights.
Both Rhykker and Raxxanterax compared this fresh take on Diablo 4 with earlier versions of the beloved series, noting significant evolution in its design.
In his video review, Rhykker remarked, “I’ve seen it improve dramatically.” He appreciated the expansion’s impact on the gameplay tempo and challenge, stating, “The pace of the game has now been sped up. It’s snappier.” He described these enhancements as making the game feel more contemporary and engaging, similar to Diablo 3’s experience.
New additions, particularly the Spiritborn class, garnered positive feedback from both creators. Rhykker labeled it “the best-designed class” and commended the better balance and design of classes overall.
The overhauled leveling system also impressed them, with Rax commenting, “The leveling progression is actually better” during his video review. Players noted an increase in legendary item drops, although certain affixes seemed less thrilling than anticipated.
Both creators were pleased with the narrative content in the expansion. Rhykker mentioned that there is more story content available than in prior expansions, stating, “If you’re going to play Vessel of Hatred for the campaign experience, I think you will be happy.”
Endgame offerings like the formidable Dark Citadel raid introduced new gameplay mechanics. Rax remarked, “This is the first time I’ve actually seen Blizzard have you do some real mechanics.”
On a negative note, Rax critiqued the new Runeword system, describing it as overly simplistic compared to its predecessor, Diablo 2. “Runewords currently are just absolutely not doing it for me,” he expressed.
Rhykker confidently asserted that “This is Diablo 4 in its ultimate form.” With these significant updates, Blizzard has reignited interest in the franchise and left players eagerly anticipating future developments. Rax further emphasized that this expansion makes Diablo 4 “feel like a game that’s not completely broken.”
