How Megumi Became One of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Strongest Sorcerers Thanks to Sukuna

In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268, Megumi Fushiguro was finally liberated from the grip of Ryomen Sukuna, thanks to the united efforts of Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki.

During the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Yuji Itadori was motivated by two main objectives: reaching the core of Megumi’s soul and freeing him from Sukuna’s body. Despite his relentless attempts, Yuji faced challenges in persuading Megumi to resist and regain control. However, in a pivotal moment in chapter 268, Megumi found his fighting spirit and aided Yuji in severing Sukuna’s bond with his body.

While Sukuna’s takeover of Megumi may have left lasting psychological and physical effects, it could have also unintentionally elevated him to one of the most formidable sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, a realization that might dawn on readers when considering Yuji’s rapid development as a Jujutsu sorcerer.

How Sukuna Might Have Unintentionally Enhanced Megumi’s Power

Yuji Itadori’s remarkable transformation as a Jujutsu sorcerer during the Shinjuku Showdown arc was truly captivating. Every time Sukuna knocked him down, Yuji rose again, increasingly empowered. Throughout their confrontation, he experienced numerous enhancements, including Blood Manipulation, Reverse Cursed Technique, Simple Domain, and his distinct Domain Expansion.

A key ability that propelled Yuji toward victory was Sukuna’s Shrine cursed technique. Satoru Gojo had previously predicted that Sukuna’s cursed techniques would ultimately be inscribed within Yuji.

This prediction materialized in recent chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. After undergoing an awakening spurred by consecutive Black Flash strikes against Sukuna, Yuji tapped into most of Sukuna’s abilities.

Learning the Reverse Cursed Technique was also notably simpler for Yuji, as Sukuna had employed it frequently during his possession. Thus, Sukuna’s influence on Yuji’s body played a significant role in his rapid ascent as a Jujutsu sorcerer.

Given that Yuji became one of the mightiest sorcerers due to Sukuna’s impact, it is reasonable to consider that Sukuna’s possession of Megumi may have similarly fortified his abilities.

While inhabiting Megumi’s body, Sukuna effectively showcased both his own powers and Megumi’s, bringing forth the complete potential of Megumi’s Ten Shadows technique to defeat Gojo—a feat unmatched by any other sorcerer before.

Therefore, it is conceivable that Megumi’s strength has grown significantly due to Sukuna’s influence, especially when considering the effects observed in Yuji’s case.

It has been explicitly noted that much of Yuji’s advancement as a sorcerer is attributable to the “Special Grade sorcery”performed on him by Sukuna. Similarly, one could draw concluding assumptions about Megumi based on Sukuna’s actions while in his body. Theoretically, Megumi should be capable of completing his Domain or manipulating his shikigami at a level comparable to or even surpassing Sukuna.

Although this remains speculative, fans have eagerly awaited Megumi’s journey toward realizing his full potential and emerging as one of the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Satoru Gojo himself recognized Megumi’s sorcerer potential, anticipating that he might one day surpass him. Thus, it wouldn’t be unrealistic to hope that Megumi will receive a significant power boost and fulfill his mentor’s expectations before the manga reaches its conclusion.
