After One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho, Netflix’s live-action fever has turned to another monument of animation: Avatar. The original series follows a boy, Aang, in his quest to become the incarnation of a being capable of mastering the four elements that govern the world, and thus ensuring the balance of power.
But the hero is young, he has barely entered adolescence in the cartoon. His age is even one of the greatest difficulties he must face: his cruel lack of experience sometimes proves to be a handicap, and it is difficult for the boy to assert himself in front of adults in power.
Live-action requires, we had to find an actor young enough to play the little airbender. And the choice fell on Gordon Cormier. But exactly how old is the interpreter of Aang in the Netflix series Avatar: The Last Airbender?

Gordon Cormier, who plays Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender, is 14 years old.
As for the character, he is 12 years old in the series – if we forget to mention the 100 years he spent in an iceberg, before Katara and Sokka discovered him and inadvertently got him out of there.
The character is also the youngest in the cast: Katara is 14 years old, Sokka 15 years old. As for Prince Zuko, he is 16 years old at the start of the series, compared to 14 years for his sister, Princess Azula.
In the sequel to the cartoon titled The Legend of Korra, we learn that Aang died at the age of 66, his stamina having declined due to the use of his Avatar powers. So no need to panic for the hero of the Netflix series: we’re still a long way away!
