Handgun (Pistol)

The handgun serves as your first weapon in the game. While exploring Wood Side Apartments, keep an eye out for a note discussing neighbors’ complaints about gunfire in Apartment 271 – this will guide your next move.

Apartment 217 is located on the second floor, but you’ll discover that the hallway leading to it is locked initially. You’ll find the key during a cutscene. Once you have the key, head upstairs and locate Apartment 217.

Inside, there’s a shopping cart in the center of the room, and the handgun can be found stashed within.

Shotgun

Upon entering Brookhaven Hospital, you’ll notice an empty gun cabinet on the wall near the entrance, hinting at more discoveries in the Silent Hill 2 remake.

The shotgun can be located on the second floor in the Women’s Locker Room, which is easily accessible after you reach the director’s office. Utilize the floor plan if you find yourself needing assistance.

Once inside the Locker Room, check the lockers to find the shotgun.

Rifle

The hunting rifle stands out as the most powerful weapon in Silent Hill 2. You’ll find it inside Toluca Prison Army, specifically in one of the initial rooms you encounter. Be aware that it will be locked at first, but a nearby note reveals that the key is located in the Witness Checkpoint.

This checkpoint is safeguarded by a security system, thus requiring you to navigate through the Headless Serpent door to access Death Row. Once you reach the execution chamber, overload the generator to shut off power throughout the prison. With all doors unlocked, head to the Witness Checkpoint to retrieve the key, allowing you to access the locked door for the rifle.

Chainsaw

The chainsaw is an additional weapon available in Silent Hill 2’s New Game Plus mode, which can be unlocked upon finishing the base game.

You can locate the chainsaw early in the game by taking the path through the woods leading to the cemetery. Behind it lies a lumber yard, where you’ll find a pile of logs on the right side of the road – the chainsaw awaits there.
