The Scadutree Avatar, found in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC of Elden Ring, is considered a legendary boss. It serves as the protector of the Scadutree and holds the powerful Miquella’s Great Rune. While not required, defeating this boss is a challenging task that may take multiple attempts, as I can attest from personal experience.

The Scadutree Avatar is located in the northeastern region of the Shadow Keep. You will encounter the Scadutree Avatar at the Scadutree Base, which is situated east of Albinauric’s Shack.
The nearest waypoint is the Scadutree Base Site of Grace.
How to Defeat the Scadutree Avatar?
Phase 1
Upon being spotted by the Scadutree Avatar, it will slam its arms onto the ground, launching spiked branches towards you. Although this attack covers a large area, it can be easily avoided by performing a dodge-roll. This will prevent you from getting injured.
If you happen to be near the Scadutree Avatar, it will attempt to crush you by forcefully slamming its head. To avoid this, simply dodge and move away as soon as you notice its head descending. The same tactic should be used if the boss begins to wildly swing its arms.
Phase 2
During the second stage of the battle, the Scadutree Avatar will lower itself into a crouching position and pools of glowing water will materialize on the ground. This serves as a warning that vines will sprout from these spots. It is important to take note of the location of each vine and avoid standing in these areas during the duration of the attack.
The boss will proceed to shoot beams of light in your direction. Wait until the beams are about to reach you and then quickly roll to the side to avoid them.
Phase 3
In the ultimate phase of the fight, the Scadutree Avatar will unleash a devastating attack that will dominate the entire arena. This is the crucial moment where your timing must be perfect. Wait for the opportune moment to perform a dodge-roll, otherwise, you will be engulfed in flames.
Don’t assume victory once the Scadutree Avatar’s health reaches zero, as its head will then become susceptible to attacks. Be sure to deliver a fatal blow or you will have to start over from the beginning. Back to the drawing board!

Scadutree Avatar is a boss that is associated with remembrance. Therefore, upon defeating it, you will receive the following drop:
- 260,000 Runes
- Remembrance of the Shadow Sunflower
- Miquella’s Great Rune
