In Hytale, Medium Hide is an essential mid-tier resource necessary for crafting various items, including weapons, tools, and armor. Additionally, it serves as a vital component for upgrades and even furniture production.

Medium Hide can be collected by defeating wolves and den stalkers, which are commonly found in grass biomes. Expect to encounter wolves frequently in these areas, making them relatively easy to locate.

The primary challenge lies in facing wolves, especially when they are in packs. Equip yourself with armor to enhance your survivability during these encounters. Gather Copper Ores to upgrade your gear, which will significantly improve your odds in battle.

A useful combat tactic is to strike at wolves as they come towards you, causing them to stagger. This method conserves stamina better than simply blocking. Before engaging in combat, consider consuming Wild Berries to boost your health regeneration.

After defeating wolves to collect Medium Hide, return to your base and access your tier 1 workbench. Navigate to the crafting tab (the third tab) to create a Tanning Rack. For this, you’ll need 6 tree trunks, 3 stones, and 3 Light Hides, which can be gathered more easily from common livestock like sheep and chickens.

With these materials, you can craft a Tannery, allowing you to convert Medium Hides into Medium Leather. This transformation unlocks a range of mid-tier equipment, including Thorium-level weapons and armor. To forge these advanced items, you’ll also need to farm Thorium Ores, starting with gathering Iron to create a suitable set of tools and armor.
