In Monster Hunter Wilds, players must sometimes explore the environment thoroughly before a monster appears on their radar. One such task awaits early in the game, as players set out to locate the elusive Black Flame.
Locating the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds

As part of the Chapter 2-4 quest titled “Long-Forgotten Flame, ”players are challenged to track down the Black Flame—a creature that wreaked havoc on the forge prior to its retreat. Before heading out, it’s advisable to restock your healing items and equip fire-resistant armor to prepare for the impending battle.
At the beginning of your search, there won’t be a designated waypoint directing you to the Black Flame. Therefore, players must investigate the nearby terrain for hints about its whereabouts. A tip for expedience: set a waypoint for Area 7, located just south of the Base Camp in the area.
Once you arrive at Area 7, conduct a search around the ground for a pile of half-digested food. This will emit a subtle glow, making it easier to find. Upon interacting with this pile, you’ll unearth the [???] Oilmucus item.

This item is linked to the Black Flame, and after collecting it, your character will present it to the scoutflies. This action will reveal the waypoint leading to the Black Flame, which can be found in Area 15. If the waypoint isn’t set automatically, make sure to do so, and ride your Seikret down into the lower regions. If you need to quickly replenish your items, there is a pop-up camp available in Area 9.
