The inclusion of explicit footage of Scott Scurlock in How to Rob a Bank has caused embarrassment for several Netflix viewers.
The recently released true crime movie has quickly climbed the top 10 charts on the streaming service since its arrival last week, gaining popularity for its captivating story about the notorious Hollywood bank robber.
From 1992 to 1996, Scurlock and his partners, who were influenced by Patrick Swayze’s character in Point Break, successfully pilfered $2.3 million from a minimum of 19 banks located in Seattle.
Despite utilizing prosthetics and elaborate makeup, Scurlock managed to remain incognito for many years, leading to the creation of his Tinsel Town moniker. However, this is not the sole intriguing aspect of his life.
It is evident that Scurlock possesses a unique personality. In his younger years, he pursued a career in medicine and utilized his intelligence (along with his laboratory resources) to produce and distribute methamphetamine.
He later utilized the profits from his drug trade to purchase land in Washington state and construct a spacious, three-story treehouse where he and his companions could reside.
Elizabeth Stanton, a friend of Scurlock, is featured in the Netflix documentary and shares her experience of the treehouse being a refuge from societal norms.
“On my initial visit to the treehouse, my friend T.J. Losey recalls that Scott was the one who answered the door. He was wearing nothing but a tool belt, a sight that I had never experienced before.”
In order to depict Scurlock’s carefree nature, How to Rob a Bank features scenes of him completely nude, baring all including his manhood.
Scott Scurlock was a free spirit.
The revelation evoked mixed emotions in some individuals, particularly due to the fact that Scurlock is deceased.
A tweet on X/Twitter caught the attention of one viewer, who expressed their surprise at Netflix’s decision to include a scene of the Hollywood Bank robbers’ genitalia in the documentary How to Rob a Bank.
“One person on Reddit mentioned that there were also some explicit shots included in the movie, to which another responded with confusion about their purpose.”
One person commented, “The story itself is fine. I didn’t need to see his penis or nude ass at all.”
Despite the presence of nudity on screen, true crime enthusiasts have praised How to Rob a Bank as one of the top documentaries on Netflix in recent times.
“According to one person on X/Twitter, Netflix’s How to Rob a Bank is their favorite documentary of the year. Another person also commented on X, stating that the documentary is quite wild.”
Another person, who accurately captures the captivating nature of the story, shared their thoughts on Twitter saying, “I’m currently 18 minutes into How to Rob a Bank on Netflix and I can’t believe this guy actually exists. He’s a good-looking pre-med student living in a treehouse, making the best meth, and robbing banks.”
